"Life Is a Highway": The Impact of Race Car Technology on Today's Production Cars

F1.jfif

Abstract

Millions of fans worldwide tune in for the big Sunday races to watch twenty of the most advanced race cars in the world race around a track, competing for the most prominent racing title of the year. Some may just turn on the television for entertainment, while others will turn it on a couple of days before to watch the practice sessions and qualifying stages. These dedicated fans understand how much research and development goes into each car and how each team has to abide by the thousands of rules that the FIA makes each year. Because of all the developments that these teams make each year, production car companies have taken technology from F1 and implemented it into their cars to improve driver safety.

Thesis Questions

  • How have Formula 1 racing, the efficiency, and safety of commercial vehicles have increased because of racing?

  • Why is Formula 1 Worth Watching?
